The Crown Chakra/Sahasrara Chakra and Your Will Power

Crown Chakra

The Crown Chakra is situated at the top of the head. The definition of Sahasrara can be summed up as the center of universal love and the will to serve others. The Crown Chakra has 2 sets of petals: the 12 inner petals that contain mostly golden prana and the 960 outer petals that contain light violet, red, orange, blue, yellow and green prana.

Spiritual Functions of the Sahasrara Chakra

The Crown Chakra is the center of universal love and manifests as the will to serve others and the will to love. It is the center of spiritual consciousness and divine oneness. The Crown Chakra is known as the ‘cosmic consciousness’. The Crown Chakra is also the center of self realization. The Crown Chakra is the place where a person can experience oneness with one’s higher soul. It is through this chakra that a person can experience the Buddha nature within. The Ajna Chakra is the center of intelligent will, while the Solar Plexus or Manipura Chakra is the center of emotional will. According to Kabbalah literature, the Crown Chakra is supposed to be the will center, which is in conflict with other teachings. The Crown Chakra manifests as the will to love and do good and is the center of the right divine motive. This chakra is all about the will to become a servant of God.

The Blue Pearl

The Blue Pearl is known as the Manon Mani which means ‘Mental Jewel’. It is lodged in the Crown Chakra and the Pineal gland. And that is the reason why the Crown Chakra is a very important crucial center. The Pineal gland holds the seed of consciousness, which looks like a Blue Pearl. The Crown Chakra is rooted in the Pineal gland. More information is available in the book ‘Achieving Oneness with the Higher Soul’.

Psychological Functions of the Sahasrara Chakra

The Crown Chakra is the center of higher intuition and when fully developed, manifests as ‘direct knowing’ or ‘direct inner perception’. A person with even a partially developed Buddhic faculty will quickly understand, unravel and solve a problem that would take another person a really long time to understand. The intuitive faculty is beyond logic. The prolonged practice of the Meditation on Twin Hearts helps in sharpening the intuitive intelligence of the person. The Twin Hearts Meditation is the safe way to partially awaken the Kundalini Energy.

Physiological Functions of the Sahasrara Chakra:

The Pineal gland is connected with the ageing and anti-ageing process and the Crown Chakra controls and energizes the Pineal gland.

Consequences of a Malfunctioning Sahasrara Chakra

Diseases of the Pineal gland and the brain, which manifest as physical and psychological ailments can be attributed to a malfunctioning Crown Chakra.

Equivalent Acupuncture Point

In Chinese medicine, the Crown Chakra corresponds to the acupuncture point DU (GV) 20.

Taoist Indian Correspondence of the Sahasrara Chakra

In Taoist Yoga, the Crown Chakra is known as the Bai Hui, which is the entry point of Tian (God) chi. The word ‘Bai Hui’ means ‘meeting point of the hundreds’. Thus the crown center is a crucial spiritual center. Discipline and a certain degree of preparation is required to activate the Crown Chakra. Inner and outer purification is of the utmost importance and if neglected, can cause psychological imbalance. It can be summed up in the verse of Matthew 9:17, ”Do not put new wine in an old wine bag.”

In Sanskrit, the Crown Chakra is known as the Sahasrara Chakra and in Tamil, it is known as the Poot Tellu Varmam.
