The Root Chakra/Mooladhara Chakra: Your Gateway to Prosperity

Root Chakra

The Basic chakra, also known as the Root chakra, is located at the base of the spine or coccyx area. Appearance of the Basic Chakra/ Mooladhara Chakra. The Basic chakra consists of four petals and contains red, orange and a tiny amount of yellow prana.

Psychological Functions of the Mooladhara Chakra:

The Basic chakra or Mooladhara Chakra is the center of self-preservation. Self preservation is an instinct required in every field of life. The Basic chakra or Root chakra is also the focal point of dynamic activities. To sum it up, the Basic chakra is the chakra of action. A person with a highly activated chakra will be successful in his business or whatever profession he embraces. A person with a depleted basic chakra on the other hand will only plan but not be able to implement. A Basic chakra plays a crucial role in one’s youthfulness and health.

Physiological Functions of the Mooladhara Chakra:

  • The Basic chakra or the Mooladhara Chakra controls and energizes the muscular and skeletal system.
  • The Basic chakra plays a key role in the strengthening of the whole physical body. The red prana in the Basic chakra helps in the energizing of the whole body.
  • The Basic chakra helps in the production of blood and also affects of the quality of the blood. The Basic chakra also controls and energizes the bone marrow.
  • Part of the transmuted Basic energy helps in the smooth functioning of the brain and the chakras of the head. An over-activated Basic chakra is characterized by hyperactivity, restlessness or insomnia.
  • The growth rate of the cells and the adrenaline glands are also affected by the Basic chakra. Body heat, the sex organs, the growth rate of children, and overall general vitality also come under the periphery of the Basic chakra.

Characteristics of Various Degrees of Chakra Activation:

  • People with insomnia and hyper active children have over-active Basic chakras.
  • People with highly activated chakras are robust and healthy.
  • People with less activated chakras tend to be weak and fragile.
  • Elderly people have severely depleted chakras. And that’s the reason that aged people tend to shrink in size with age, their spines curve and the healing of wounds and bones slows down.

Spiritual Functions of the Kundalini Energy

The Kundalini energy is located at the base of the spine and is responsible for the manifestation of matter. Without Kundalini energy, the physical body as well as the physical universe cannot exist. Physical development happens through the awakening of the Kundalini energy. A person on a spiritual journey may not be aware of the Kundalini energy, but in spite of that the Kundalini energy will be partially awakened. There are many names for Kundalini energy: Some of them are ‘serpent fire’, ‘fiery serpent’ or the ‘sacred fire’. The existence of the Kundalini energy is further emphasized in this quote by John the Baptist’s statement (Matthew 3:11, Oxford Bible), “I baptize you with water…but one who is more powerful than I is coming after me…He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” The Holy Spirit symbolizes the divine energy that is coming down. And the fire stands for the fiery serpent at the base of the spine. The Kundalini is awakened through this divine energy. The degree of awakening is what matters.

How does Kundalini Energy feature in your Spiritual Journey?

The Kundalini energy enables the brain cells to register spiritual and higher experiences. It improves the physical body, the brain and the nervous system. A person with a highly awakened Kundalini energy can become a great spiritual guru, a leader and a genius.

The Basic chakra and the sole minor chakra points are the entry points for ground pranic energy. The Basic chakra can be compared to the root of a tree. If the root is not strong, then the tree will be weak. Thus if the Basic chakra is depleted or under-developed, it will surely manifest in the physical body. And that’s the reason; the Basic chakra is also called the ‘Root chakra’.
